Scan a food label and log your portion

Read the protein on a package, check the result and enter how much you ate.

Read the label

Tap Scan on the main screen, then choose Food label. Take a photo of the nutrition label or choose an image from your library. Camera access is needed to take a photo. Food-label scanning requires Protein Tracker Pro and is unavailable in the mainland China App Store.

The scanner first tries to read the label on your device. Check the protein amount and whether it is given per 100 g, per 100 ml or per serving. Correct either value if it was read incorrectly. This reads the printed label; it is not a barcode lookup.

Enter what you ate

The label's protein value is not necessarily the protein in your portion. Enter the grams, millilitres or number of servings you consumed. Protein Tracker calculates the protein for that amount.

For example, a food with 10 g of protein per 100 g contributes 15 g of protein when you eat 150 g. Check the portion and result before saving. You can also add a name and choose the entry's date.

Check the photo and save

Tap the result photo to zoom into the original image or crop while checking the reading. Returning to the result keeps your edits. Tap the checkmark to save, or X to discard. Scanning does not automatically save an entry.

When a label cannot be read

If local recognition fails, you can choose whether to send the photo for AI help. The app does not upload the label photo before you consent. You can decline and enter or correct the values yourself.

The food-label AI setting offers Automatically send on failure, Never and Always ask. With Always ask, each photo needs your permission. A failed AI request or declining upload leaves the local/manual recovery available. Check any AI result before saving.

For a meal without a nutrition label, use Meal in Scan or a text description in Add Protein. Read the English privacy policy for service-provider information.
