Protein Tracker is made by Kai Oelfke. It requires no app account, shows no ads, and does not sell personal data. Contact: kai@amicu.app.
Protein data
Entries, presets, and goals are stored on your device. iCloud sync is optional and requires paid access. When enabled, it keeps these records in your private iCloud storage; the developer cannot access them. Deleting an entry or preset in the app syncs that deletion to iCloud while sync is enabled. Deleting the app removes local data from that device, but not data already in iCloud.
To remove the app's remaining iCloud data, go to Settings > your name > iCloud > Storage or Manage Account Storage, find Protein Tracker, and delete its data. Apple explains how to manage third-party app data in iCloud.
Optional Apple Health access lets the app read protein entries and export entries you create. Change permissions in Apple Health or iOS Settings. Removing the app does not remove Health samples. To remove exported entries, delete them in Protein Tracker first. For any samples that remain, turn off Apple Health sync in the app and follow Apple's guide to deleting Health data.
AI and purchases
Food-label recognition starts on your device. If a label can't be read, you choose whether to send its photo for AI help. The food-label AI setting lets you send automatically after on-device recognition fails, never send, or be asked for each photo. Without uploading, you can still enter and correct values manually.
Using AI estimation sends your photo or food description through AIProxy to OpenAI. The app also sends an app-specific purchase identifier to AIProxy. After submission, the data is handled by those providers, outside the user's and developer's control. Protein Tracker cannot guarantee how it is retained or deleted. Do not submit content you do not want to share with them. See AIProxy's privacy policy and OpenAI's API data controls.
RevenueCat manages subscriptions and restores purchases using an app-specific identifier and App Store purchase information. Apple handles payments; the developer does not receive payment details.
Feedback and diagnostics
Before you send feedback in the app, you can review what will be submitted. Feedback goes through Google Forms with a random app identifier and app and device details. You may include an email address for a reply and choose whether to attach recent app diagnostics or an app-specific purchase identifier. Support email is handled by the sender's and developer's email providers.
The app may automatically send sampled reports about unexpected problems through Google Forms. Reports may include a random app identifier, device and app versions, time, code location, and a technical message. They may be stored in Google Sheets for troubleshooting, not advertising. Protein entries, AI photos, and prompts are not intentionally included.
Feedback and support submissions are kept while useful for improving Protein Tracker or providing support. Technical reports are kept while useful for diagnosing reliability problems. Feedback and reports use the same random app identifier, so a report can be associated with feedback that includes an email address. Request deletion of identifiable submissions at kai@amicu.app.
Your choices
Delete entries and presets in the app, turn off iCloud sync, or change Health permissions at any time. Turning off sync stops future changes from reaching iCloud; existing iCloud data can be removed separately as described above. Health samples can be deleted in Apple Health. Removing Protein Tracker stops future reports from that device.
Service providers and website
The services named above process data needed to provide their features under their own privacy terms.
The Protein Tracker website uses Netlify for hosting and contact-form forwarding. Netlify may process standard network and request information, such as your IP address, in server logs to deliver and protect the website. Fonts are supplied by your device.
Website contact form
The Help contact form sends your email address and message through a Netlify Function to Google Forms. It also sends the website language, a random submission identifier, the app name, and an indication that the message came from the Protein Tracker website. Website messages are used to respond to support requests or improve Protein Tracker and are kept while useful for those purposes. You can use the form or the email address above for privacy questions and deletion requests.
The form includes a hidden field to help reject automated spam. Submissions with that field filled in are rejected without forwarding them to Google Forms. Netlify is configured to limit submissions by IP address and domain. The function does not include your IP address in the information it forwards to Google Forms.
Website storage and measurement
The website remembers your language choice in your browser's local storage. You can remove this preference by clearing the site's stored data in your browser. The website itself does not set cookies or load third-party analytics or advertising scripts.
App Store download links and the app banner include campaign parameters identifying the Protein Tracker website campaign, rather than an individual visitor. Apple uses these to report campaign performance in App Store Connect, including downloads attributed to the website. See Apple's explanation of campaign links.
This policy may change when the app or its data handling changes. The current version will be available on this page.
